It is no surprise that the more students read, the better they become at it but how do we encourage independent reading in the classroom and at home? This workshop will:

• explore ways to engage students in meaningful, independent reading
• discuss ways to establish home reading that works for students and parents
• suggest sources of books for independent and home reading
• give you ideas for a variety of texts that students can read at home
