Organize a Book Drive

Help feed the Calgary Reads Book Bank

By hosting a book drive, you’re putting books into the hands of children who may otherwise never own one. Each year, we give away thousands of new and gently used books that have been collected or donated by Calgary Reads supporters.

Getting your school, community or work colleagues together to organize a book drive is a great way to support the Calgary Reads Book Bank and share the joy of reading with Alberta children. It’s also a lot of fun!

Here’s how in three steps:

1. Choose your event

There are different ways to host a book drive. You can set up a central drop-off location at your school, office or community event or pick up book donations door-to-door at a pre-set time.

2. Collect quality books

We accept new and like-new books suitable for children ages 0 to 8. We prefer  books to have literacy-building qualities to them.

It’s a fact

Students who read the most, read the best, achieve the most and stay in school the longest.

3. Arrange delivery

Contact us when your book drive is over and we’ll arrange a time for you to drop off your books at the Calgary Reads Book Bank.
