Other Ways to Volunteer

Put your unique skills to work for children’s literacy

Our committed team of volunteers includes thinkers, builders and doers with diverse backgrounds and skill sets. We rely on all of them to help us share the joy of reading with Alberta children.

There are many ways to get involved with Calgary Reads. Here are a few other volunteer opportunities you might want to consider.

Lend a helping hand

Ready to help anywhere, anytime we need it? Then becoming a Helping Hands volunteer is a great way to support our work. We often need extra help getting ready for events, programs and special initiatives.

Sort donated books

If you have good organizational skills, this is the job for you. Each year, we have to sort thousands of donated books to get them categorized and ready to distribute to families.

Become a reading host

This is your chance to play host to visitors at the Children’s Reading Place. As a House Host, you’ll help people find books and be a reading role model to children and their parents or caregivers.

Share your special skill

We rely on volunteers for a wide range of activities, so if you have specific expertise you’d like to share, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact our people manager to talk about how you can help.

“We appreciate the dedication, dependability and wide range of skills our volunteers bring to us. Without them, we couldn’t do the important work we do for Alberta children.”
